The prize-winning EVOO: El Aceite de Marta, Empeltre olive variety.
The favourite slogan at the mill is “The oil lives in us with its shine”. After many years dedicated to caring for their olive trees, growing their own commercial brands, a further step was taken in November 2019 by building an oil mill. Today, at Artal, it is easier to control all stages of production of the company’s extra virgin olive oils.
As good lovers of nature, we have set ourselves two primary goals, as they say at the mill, to have a circular and self-sufficient economy – something we have already achieved and of which we could not be prouder – and turning to organic of our olive groves, to preserve our land so that all future generations will derive great pleasure from continuing to enjoy benefits of a good quality extra virgin olive oil. The company in possession of over 350,000 olive trees in the lands of Aragon are situated in the Lower Ribera del Ebro and Bajo Aragón in the municipalities of Escatrón, Sástago and Alborge, La Puebla de Híjar and Jatiel. Here the trees enjoy the wind, sun, cold and fog of the lower banks of the Ebro.
The most commonly found olive trees are those of the indigenous Empeltre cultivar, which is home to Bajo Aragón. No stranger to triumph in the EVO IOOC Italy, Almazara Artal has this year attained the success achieved already in 2021. Today, thanks to its success in the 2023 edition of the EVO IOOC Italy, Almazara Artal has won the Special Almendrados dulces trophy, a category in which it is the reigning champion, as well as being the Extra Virgin Olive Oil of Bajo Aragón to beat in the year 2023.
