Huge success for ORO DEL DESIERTO (Andalucia, Spain), the reigning international champion in the EVO IOOC Italy 2023.
The award-winning EVOO: ORO DEL DESIERTO COUPAGE, Arbequina, Ojiblanca and Picual olive varieties.
At the company they are used to saying: “Ours is a unique and rugged landscape, which hides great satisfactions”. Oro del Desierto is a family-run company founded in 1999 by Rafael Alonso Aguilera, and is located in one of the most rugged and evocative areas of Spain: the Tabernas Desert. It boasts a great heritage of more than 25,000 olive trees surrounded by 100 hectares of mountains and other crops such as almond groves and vineyards. Here, organic farming has pushed itself to the top of the ladder, aided by the extreme climatic conditions which, with more than 3,000 hours of sunshine per year and no extreme temperature changes, allow for amazing results.
The modern oil mill was installed where there was already one dating back to 1925 (now on display in the company museum), in a perfect condition, standing still since the 1970s, which allowed the dream to come true. Today, the family exports organic extra virgin olive oil to four corners of the earth. Plus, the love and passion for their work, which starts right from the production of the olives, has allowed their products to be recognised in all parts of the world. Inside the company is located the renowned restaurant ‘Los Albardinales’, which boasts several decorated rooms where one can savour the local gastronomy and their extra virgin olive oils.
Countless international prizes have been awarded to ORO DEL DESIERTO since 2008, in recognition of the company’s excellent quality. Already a prize-winner in 2020 with the Best of Spain in the EVO IOOC Italy, it will be reconfirmed in 2023 with a most prestigious Best International Coupage EVOO Northern Hemisphere of the EVO IOOC Italy 2023, of which it is the reigning champion, as well as being the Northern Hemisphere Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil to beat in the year 2024.
