The award-winning EVOO Casa De Santo Amaro ‘Prestige’ DOP, olive varieties Cobrançosa, Madural, Verdeal.
The company’s maxim: “Quality above all and at all times! From planting to marketing”.
Casa de Santo Amaro has been taking care of the family’s land for eight generations.
It all began on 14th October 1687, with the cultivation of cereals. It will be necessary to wait until the 19th century to see the production of the EVOO get under way.
The approximately 800-hectare company property, located in the village of Suçâes, in the vicinity of Mirandela (Trás-os-Montes), encompasses 165 hectares of olive groves on which some 26,000 olive trees grow, most of them centuries old.
The production of olive oil is carried out at all stages within the property, from cultivation to the company’s own mill and bottling, guaranteeing the “Farm-to-Table” concept.
The company, now run by brothers Antonio and Francisco Pavão, also boasts an in-house olive nursery, which copes with the marketing of the seedlings throughout Portugal.
In the company, they proudly recall how their father was one of those responsible for the popularisation of the Cobrançosa variety in Portugal.
Trás-os-Montes Prime Lda has always believed in the potential of Portuguese agriculture, as well as in nature conservation and sustainable development.
Their olive-growing heritage has borne much fruit in the course of the years, receiving numerous national and international awards.
The Best of Portugal 2023 from the eighth edition of EVO IOOC Italy stands out – a category in which Casa De Santo Amaro is the reigning champion, as well as being the best Portuguese Extra Virgin Olive Oil to beat in the year 2024.
