Close-up on Olivicola Laur (Mendoza, Argentina), the reigning Best of Country in the EVO IOOC Italy 2023.
The award-winning EVOO: Altos Limpios Arauco, Arauco olive variety.
At the company, the motto at all times is: “Increasing the value of Argentinian olive growing”. A company founded in 1889 by Don Francisco Laur, a French immigrant, Laur pioneered the introduction of olive cultivation in the province of Mendoza. Later on, in 2010, the Millan family acquired Olivicola Laur and thanks to the efforts of director Gabriel Guardia, Laur became one of the leading olive oil brands in the world and is ranked first in Argentina. Today, Olivicola Laur exports to the United States, China, Japan and Europe, as well as to all of South America.
On the farm, the ancient oil mill, now an elegant museum, tells the story of past pressing, welcoming visitors and offering a tourist route where it is possible to pay a visit to the centuries-old olive groves and oil mills, tourists and the curious alike will have the opportunity to see, touch and above all taste the products of this land. In fact, Laur, in addition to the well-known Extra Virgin Olive Oils, produces excellent selections of vinegar, balsamic vinegar, olives, wine, various preserves and dried fruit.
In addition to being the most award-winning company in Argentina (almost 700 different awards), Laur has won the following EVO IOOC Italy trophies:
- 2016: Best International Coupage – South Hemisphere
- 2018: Best Of Argentina
- 2020: Best Of Argentina e Best of South America – Raul C. Castellani
- 2022: Best Of Argentina
Again hard work has paid off, and has led, also this year, to winning the EVO IOOC Italy’s Best of Argentina 2023, a category in which it is the reigning champion, as well as being the best Argentinean Extra Virgin Olive Oil to beat in the year 2024.
