Palmi (Italy). A preliminary collaboration agreement has been signed between the EVO IOOC Italy competition and the Council for Research in Agriculture and Analysis of Agricultural Economics (CREA) – Olive, Fruit and Citrus Research Center (OFA). The Center, has based its headquarters in Acireale, Caserta, Forlì, Roma and Rende, where are also based its administrative offices.

In detail the project promoted by CREA OFA has as its objective the characterization of Extra Virgin Olive Oils and foresees, for those who will register for the EVO IOOC Italy contest, the participation of their EVOOs in the line of research with the subject “Traceability of World’s EVOOs” a study on the identification of Italian, European and non-European EVOOs, belonging to all the world olive oil basins.
In order to be included in the project, companies registered in the contest may send, optionally and in addition to the products required for the contest procedures, samples of at least 100 ml of the same EVOO registered in the contest, even unlabeled (maximum 4 samples of EVOOs per company).
The results of the research will be the subject of special scientific publications with international dissemination that will also report, among other things, the origin, variety and type of the Olive Oils in the project.
